To take full advantage of the SureDATA and Team Collaboration features of Goverlan, all Goverlan users should point to the same database. This article will describe how to use the Goverlan GCS or the Goverlan Administrative GPO to set the database settings for your Goverlan users.

There are two ways to configure the Goverlan Database settings.
Method 1: Goverlan Administrative GPO
For more information regarding the setup of the Goverlan Admin GPO, please refer to this user guide article.
This group policy must be applied to the computers OU where the Goverlan operator machines are located.
Once you have determined which database setup your organization will use, choose the appropriate settings in the following location in the group policy object:
Computer Configuration –> Policies –> Administrative Templates –> Goverlan Universal Settings –> Goverlan Common Settings –> Database Configuration and Features
Method 2: Goverlan Central Server Universal Settings Policy
Goverlan Central Server version 2.0…. has the appropriate policies to configure the Goverlan database settings.

Policy Option Descriptions
Configure the following policy options with the Goverlan Admin GPO Template or the Goverlan GCS.
|Database Type||This policy defines the database type to use. The default is SQLITE (file-based).|
|Database Name||Defines the name of the database that will be used for SureDATA. The default name is GoverlanV8_DB|
|Database Server||Defines the database server to connect to and the instance. You can leave this field blank if you have configured a file-based database like SQLITE. Example: SERVERNAME\sqlexpress|
|Database Path||Defines the directory used by Goverlan to store the database if this one is a file-based format. You can leave this field blank if the database is not file-based, or if you want to use the configured Goverlan Application Data Directory to store the database.|
|Database UserID||Defines the database user ID to connect to the database server. You can leave this field blank if you want to use Windows Authentication or if you have configured a file-based database like SQLITE.|
|Database Password||Defines the database user ID to connect to the database server. You can leave this field blank if you want to use Windows Authentication or if you have configured a file-based database like SQLITE.|
|Database Inventory||Enable this option if you do not want Goverlan to register inventory information into the database. Default value is On.|
Restrict Advanced Database options in the Goverlan Database Settings
Additionally, the Advanced Settings button in the Goverlan Management console Database Configuration options can also be disabled by policy
Computer Configuration –> Policies –> Administrative Templates –> Goverlan Universal Settings –> Goverlan Features Restriction –> Operator Side
Universal Settings Distribution Tab –> Features Restrictions –> Operator Side
Do not allow: SureDATA Advanced Settings
